Flying Unicorn - Little Book of Spells

Hi Everyone,

I am very happy to share with you my latest project, this project is a converted book, the book has been converted to what still looks like a book but it is actually a treasure box, shhhhhh. I picked up a very old book from my local second hand bookstore, it had one of those hard green vinyl covers, with gold trimming, it was $2 and with stinky old paper - PERFECT!.

I am super happy with how this turned out, I shall now place it on my craft room shelf with my secret stash of scrappy spending money, shhhhhh.

    1. Thank you Kathy!! How fabulous is the range of paper? I have just finished a layout with the same paper, it is a little on the wacky side but has turned out quite well. Pop back next Monday and check it out (it is part of the Flying Unicorn - Mojo Monday sketch challenge).

    1. Thanks Erica!! really appreciate the time to leave me a comment. I love this range from G45, it is easy to work with and I seem to have endless ideas popping into my head. So many things I want to do with it. Pop back next Monday if you have a second and see a layout I have just finished with the same paper. Next on my to do list with this range is a little mini case.

    1. Hi Lara, thanks for stopping by, I love seeing new faces!!. Well the cutting, not quite as hard as you may think. I first modge podged the side of the book sheets (ensuring the front and back covers were cling wrapped first). I used a STACK of modge podge, then left it to dry. I then traced a rectangle on the front page to the size of my cut out. Used a power drill and drilled a small hole (down to nearly the bottom) in each corner. The small hole helps your box cutter knife have a starting point. I then commenced cutting and struggled and shredded heaps of sheets. I recruited my husband and his huge biceps to do the remainder of the cutting, he did the BEST job. At this point I modge podged the inner sheets. I contemplated leaving it looking like that but I did not like the rough look so I lined it with paper and then finished it with tissue tape. Hope this all makes some kind of sense? If you google search, 'how to hollow a book' you will find quite a few tutorials on it. I am going to go for something bigger next time, like an old encyclopedia (small books are a little harder). Good luck and have a great day!!
