Rock Salt Distress Technique - Flying Unicorn

Hello Everyone! I am here today to share with you a rock salt distress technique. There are a few steps involved here but the end result is pretty cool (as seen below on Mr Brolly).

You will need the following products...

Take your die cut chippie and paint it up with gesso, allow to dry (completely!).

Using your Dew Drop Galaxy Gold ink rub it lightly over the chippie, allow to dry.

Spray liberally with your black mist...

Immediately pile with rock salt...

Spray with the black mist again. And now WAIT, wait until it dries, no using a heat gun. Sit back and leave overnight. I made the mistake a few times of trying to tip the salt off too early, bad move, made huge a salty inky mess.
After patiently leaving overnight you will end up with this...Ooooooh!!!

Now you could leave Mr Brolly like this as he does look pretty cool and mottled. At this point though I decided to use a thin coat of crackle paint. After allowing the crackle paint to dry I added a quick dab of the Galaxy Gold dew drop and then a few sprays of the Perfect Copper Perfect Pearls Mist.

My transformed Mr Brolly was then turned into a tag.

Have a wonderful and creative week everyone!

Flying Unicorn - Bohemian Bazaar

Hello Everyone!!

For those of you who were lucky enough to purchase the June Flying Unicorn Kit - Ray of Magic, you would have received a lovely paper mache case in your kit. I managed to hang onto my undecorated case just long enough for the FABULOUS Bohemian Bazaar paper to arrive from Graphic 45. This collection from Graphic 45 is so vibrant and bright, it makes me happy. How could you not smile at something so pretty?

I have two projects to share with you today....

I set about decorating this case for my daughter Lily, yes at six months old she is WAY too young to even think about playing with this. My husband asked if it was for Lily to take her lunch to school in, sheeeesh you do not put lunch in something so pretty, you put jewels, letters and treasures in it, then promptly padlock it and put it on your shelf as a decoration (or perhaps some light use will be allowed - ummmmm eventually).

When is it ok to place a vodka bottle in your daughters bedroom as a decoration? Firstly (and most importantly) when it is empty, cleaned, scrubbed and sterilized and secondly when it is decorated like this!!!

This is the second bottle that I have decorated with Graphic 45 paper, I would like to eventually have at least six. Or maybe I will set myself a goal of having a bottle per new collection, yes great idea!!

Mojo Monday - Flying Unicorn

Hello Everyone,

This week I had the absolute pleasure of creating a layout for the Mojo Monday sketch challenge at Flying Unicorn. Alda created a MOST amazing sketch for me to use as inspiration. As soon as I laid eyes on this gorgeous sketch, the ideas began to flow immediately. I seriously could not wait to begin creating.

From this......

I created this......

Would you believe I thought I had finished this layout 3 times, I finished it and photographed it twice prior to the above photo. I just kept adding more and more, each time I thought it was not quite finished. 'Just keep adding Rebecca' I kept hearing in my head. And funnily enough now that it is 'finished' I am still thinking, perhaps one more flower, perhaps some more chain or metal embellishment. Oh yes, as I always say, MORE IS MORE!!.

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look, I hope you all take the time this week to join the Mojo Monday challenge.

Wishing you all a fabulous and creative week.

Flying Unicorn - Graphic 45 French Country

Hi Everyone,

I am here to share with you a couple of projects created with the gorgeous French Country range by Graphic 45. This range is divine, all the papers are beautiful and as always with Graphic 45 they just all blend seamlessly together.

Quite sometime ago I found this little key box buried in a sales box at a dollar store. Poor little box at the bottom of the pile, plain old pine box, just needed a home and a bit of sprucing up. Hello French Country you will bring some much loved beauty to this project.

I would also like to share this little tag with pockets too....

Thanks for looking everyone, I wish you all a very happy and most creative week.

Flying Unicorn - Little Book of Spells

Hi Everyone,

I am very happy to share with you my latest project, this project is a converted book, the book has been converted to what still looks like a book but it is actually a treasure box, shhhhhh. I picked up a very old book from my local second hand bookstore, it had one of those hard green vinyl covers, with gold trimming, it was $2 and with stinky old paper - PERFECT!.

I am super happy with how this turned out, I shall now place it on my craft room shelf with my secret stash of scrappy spending money, shhhhhh.
