On the 15th of each month we will make available a collection of paper crafting supplies that will sure to inspire and create projects or add to projects that you are or will be creating. Flying Unicorn is looking for you to have fun experimenting and combining various materials for creating art. The items that are chosen will help you discover new styles and techniques. EXCITING NEWS! - Flying Unicorn

Hi Everyone,

I have some MOST MOST exciting news, news that I have been bursting to share for a few weeks now. I am pleased to announce that I have joined the amazing creative team at Flying Unicorn. I am over the moon, I cannot wait to bring you all new and exciting projects, starting with the ones below (from my first creative team posting).

Today I would like to share with you two projects, one girly and one grungy, thought I would mix it up a bit. Let's start with girly by showing you my Secret Garden layout. A friend of mine posted a photo of her Mum on Facebook which I just 'had' to scrap, such an adorable shot.

Time to grunge it up a bit!

This week I took a bottle straight out of my recycling bin, I decided it was way too nice a bottle to simply throw away. I set about figuring a way to paint the bottle from the inside without using a paint brush. This process was very simple, I made a mixture of Mod Podge, acrylic paint, Perfect Pearls and water. I tipped it into the bottle and shook it up, it worked perfectly, my bottle was then a wonderful deep sea sparkly blue. Although I ended up covering most of the bottle with paper, I can see pretty glimpses of blue through the peacock feathers and when I tip the bottle upside down the base is gorgeous. So definitely take a second look at your bottles before you throw them out, turn trash into treasure!!. Now let's take a look.

Scrap Around The World - May Challenge

Hi Everyone,

Just yesterday via Facebook I stumbled across a brand spanking new challenge blog 'Scrap Around The World', immediately intrigued I took a little look. Very happy to see Helen Tilbury was the site owner and designer, we were both previously on the Zeus and Zoe design team together some years back. I thought it only right to support this new initiative and jump right on in and join the first challenge.

What I wanted to take from the mood board was the colour teal, it jumped right out and me and said 'use me use me'. 

Late July last year I went to our work ball and there just happened to be a photo booth there, I have been waiting for just the right layout to use these photos.

Thanks 'Scrap Around the World' for giving me the nudge to spend my few hours spare today crafting away in my craft room. Also a big thank you to my newborn daughter Lily for having a nice long sleep this afternoon.

Mixed Media Canvas Project

 

This week my lovely friend Michelle (Bubbachooka) loaded to sb.com an absolutely stunning canvas she created and it is entitled Marilyn. It was gorgeous beyond belief and I immediately decided I had to have a go at making one too, how to do it? where to begin? I asked so many questions. Michelle pointed me in the direction of Lee's (LuvLeeScrapping) YouTube video entitled Sweet November. This video is in two parts and takes you step by step through the process on how to create something like this (thank you Lee, excellent tutorial).

Graphic 45 Design Team 2013 Audition

It is that time of year again, Graphic 45 is having another most exciting design team call. For the last two years I have watched this call roll by with the thought of applying but never actually following through (am I good enough? could it really happen? why would they choose me? - enough is enough!). This year I am throwing caution and semi doubtful thoughts to the wind and jumping right on in and giving it a go. I absolutely and positively LOVE Graphic 45 and truly believe their products are very well suited to my slightly quirky design style.

 As part of the application process, we are to post a minimum of 6 of projects. I have split my chosen projects over two categories.

12 Tags of 2013 - Tim Holtz (February)

Very happy to get all inky again today and to get cracking making the February tag for 12 Tags of 2013. I have to admit I did go into a slight panic when I realised I did not have the right stamps, any distress markers, or kraft core impressions paper. Thinking cap on, I stepped outside of the box a little and think I managed to still make a tag kind of similar (yet rather different). I am happy with how it has worked out and will now proudly show off my rather stained hands for at least few days. 

Looking forward to seeing what challenges the March tag brings me.

Gift Tags - Tim Holtz Inspired

Madness!! I have gone from not joining in on the Tim Holtz tags challenge to being completely in love with making tags. Since making making my previous tag (January, seen previously) I have created eight more, I am now a little addicted to making tags. 

I have thoroughly enjoyed putting these together and they all now proudly hang in my craft room on display. One day I may actually bring myself to attach them to a gift, until then though, they are all mine to enjoy.
