Tim Holtz Mixed Media Canvas for Scrap Matrix

Hello Everyone,

I am here today to share with you all my second Ranger post for our Ranger challenge month. This time I would like to bring to you a mixed media burlap canvas. I so love how the Tim Holtz Ideology range can all match so well, product to product, it just seems to blend seamlessly. I just cannot get myself enough Tim products, I love them so much.

The project began life as a simple burlap canvas. I dipped a gesso brush into some white gesso and randomly painted some around the main part of the canvas and the sides.

Strips of paper and tissue tape were adhered using 3D Gloss Gel.

I cut a square of paper and adhered down with thin double sided tape some Tim Holtz Ideology film strip ribbon.

I then began audition my Tim Holtz Idealogy Ephemera on my square, just randomly layering. When I had a good base and design, everything was adhered down to the paper.

A small amount of Art Basics Copper Crackle was placed around the canvas with a dot stencil.

To finish I added some Tim Holtz Paper Dolls,  German Scrap, and Scrap Matrix Metal.  These elements all received a very light touch of Art Alchemy Metallique Wax in Antique Gold.

Many thanks for stopping by the Scrap Matrix blog today. Have you entered our Ranger challenge yet? you still have one week to do so. I very much look forward to seeing your creations.

I wish you all a happy and creative day.

Tim Holtz Configuration Box - Scrap Matrix Design Team

Hello Everyone,

I am here today with you to share a created Tim Holtz configuration box. I cannot lie, Tim is my crafting hero, I feel we may be kindred spirits. I love ALL Tim Holtz products, I cannot get enough of them and will happily admit I have a good stash to stare at and admire.

This box is packed with Idea-ology product and Scrap Matrix metal, combined also with my personal stash and vintage bits and pieces I had here in my craft room.  I do apologise in advance as this blog post is a little heavy on the photos, I wanted to ensure you all got a very good look around the entire box.

For this project I have used a Tim Holtz configuration box from my stash, however you can use other things to create a project like this such as printers trays, jewellery box trays, boxes etc. Think outside the box (literally).

I urge you to look through the close up photos below to see what can actually be used in a project like this. There are items that were destined for the bin, they actually look good here - buttons, champagne metal top, rusty thimble, watch parts, light bulb from my Mum's Rav 4, broken jewellery chain. Never ever be afraid to experiment.

May thanks for checking into the blog today to take a look at my project. Please if you have any questions at all do not be afraid to get in touch and ask. I look forward to seeing all your creations in the Scrap Matrix Ranger challenge this month.

Wishing you all a happy and creative day.

Paper Artsy Tags - Rebecca's Second Share

Hi Everyone,

Rebecca here with you today!. I would like to bring you a small step by step tutorial showing you how to create a small series of gift tags using a set of Hot Pick stamps from Paper Artsy.

I began with blank manilla tags.....

To create the vibrant background colour I used Distress Inks  from Ranger. To apply the colours I used a Inkblending Tool, dabbed into the ink and lightly moved in circles around the tag blending the colours together.

In a spritzer bottle a small amount of Primary Elements Mica Powder in Emperor's Gold mixed with water was sprayed through various Tim Holtz Stencils to give a nice background effect.

Stamp, stamp, stamp with this beautiful set of stamps.

German Scrap was adhered small dots of Glossy Accents and raised dots of Glossy Accents were also applied for further dimension. When the dots were dry a small amount of Metallique Wax in Gold was rubbed on.

The final step was to add small accents of colour using the beautiful Prima Metallic Watercolours and a brass Scrap Matrix Metal accent to hang a ribbon from.

Many thanks for popping in today, please do not forget you have until the 15th of January to enter the Paper Artsy challenge within the Scrap Matrix Facebook Shares group.

Wishing you all a very happy and creative day.

Tim Holtz Reverse Canvas - Flying Unicorn

Hi Everyone,

I am here today to share with you all a little more Tim Holtz inspired creativeness. This is the first reverse canvas I have ever made, why I have left it so long I really have no idea, such a great way to showcase items. Below you will see I have used an absolute stack of Tim Holtz product, however I have also added a few other bits and pieces from my own stash. As you can see this is super busy but it works, it is like looking into a little box of vintage treasure.

Tim Holtz Folio - Flying Unicorn

Hi Everyone,

I am here today to share with you a decorated Tim Holtz Collection Folio. Let me tell you, when it arrived in my creative team box for Flying Unicorn, boy oh boy I was excited. I had been looking for a creative way to showcase some of my photos from my trip to London last year and this folio was perfect. The creative mojo was in full action and creating this project was such a pleasure, really made me happy.

Have you seen the new Tim Holtz Emphemera packets? wow they are jam packed with gorgeous emphemera. They just keep going and going, I have created two projects with them now and still have some left (yay!). You will see them used throughout my folio below.

I have photographed my folio front, back and then all through the inside in order. My printer went bonkers went I printed my photos, I ended up with streaks. Rather than reprint I decided to use them, it kind of looked cool and fitted in. Enjoy your visual journey through my folio.
